Oh no! The buttercream has gone bad!

Actual disaster!! How has this happened?! I mean really...how?
I tried making some more cakes for work people again, mainly so I could try out some new flavors and ingredients. For these first ones the frosting was made by whipping cream cheese into a buttercream type mix. It came out so runny that after this picture was taken they just became a hot mess of cream cheese waterfalls. They tasted delicious as I mixed in scraped vanilla pods and not essence to the cream cheese. So they would have been heavenly if it had kept its shape and stayed on the cakes. Fail 1.

Fail 2: these monstrosities!!

I wanted to use Rose essence to make a delicate tasting buttercream for these chocolate cakes. Again when eaten together it tasted so nice but if the phrase 'you eat with your eyes' is true, well then, my eyes are vomiting. This is not what I wanted them to look like at all. The Rose essence seemed to curdle the buttercream mix, and now in hindsight I totally know how to fix this but at the time I was super upset that they looked so rubbish. So I shoved a few silver balls on a plate to detract from the pink curled cloud on the top, took a picture, and then started to eat my way through them.
I was so ashamed of both these cupcakes they never got to my workplace.
