Family wedding

My Mum got married and asked me to make the cakes for her wedding. She didn't really have a color theme to it but did want the cakes to taste of apricot. So I made plain sponges and the buttercream had the apricot flavoring in as I wanted it to be a delicate flavor and not super over powering as it was an artificial apricot.
Working with such a small kitchen meant the cakes had to rest on my bedroom windowsill. They were a little over-baked but the frosting always covers a multitude of sins.

Instead of a bride and groom figurine on the top I made chocolate strawberries look like the wedding couple (2 brides in case one went super wrong).

40 cupcakes to ice, and totally not an even bake across the board. Fold up kitchen table needed for this job.

I also did a main wedding cake to go at the top of the tiered plates. This again was plain sponge with apricot buttercream, but between the layers was also a thine amount of apricot jam. The buttercream was meant to look ombre but it didn't really work out that way.

The finished presentation.

(The guy who looks like the M.I.B is my brother from LA. I am so jealous he gets to live there!)

Overall I was super happy with the results of this especially the groom strawberry...so dapper!
